Donald Goines - Daddy Cool
In 1974, Donald Goines and Shirley Sailor were both found shot dead in their apartment in Michigan. The killers remained unidentified to this day. In the same year of his death, Daddy Cool was published, a book of unblinking nihilism that certified Goines as the progenitor of the array of ‘street lit’ books being published today. This is the graphic novel version of the paperback, adapted by Don Glut and wonderfully rendered by the late Alfredo Alcala. Reads best with a little help by Curtis Mayfield.
